With hardly a month left for the XIII NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) Summit scheduled to be held in Kualalumpur, the debate on the efficacy of the movement has gained currency once again. Debates on NAM ’s utility and relevance evoke controversy. While there are those who opine that NAM has outlived its lifespan and that its revival will be an exercise in futility, there is a dedicated lot who envision a robust role for this once-revered movement. As for the movement itself, its transition from controversial to consequential could be a long and circuitous one. But, is it worth treading?
