Panel Discussion: India, China and Asian Security - Setting an Agenda for
Cooperation
China Reform Forum (CRF), Beijing
An IPCS delegation visited Beijing for a panel discussion with the China Reform Forum (CRF) from 27-28 November 2006. The delegation was led by Ambassador Salman Haidar, former Indian Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to China and also included Ambassador Lalit Mansingh, former Indian Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to the United States, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Dipankar Banerjee, Director, IPCS, Mr. Mohan Guruswamy, Chairman of Centre for Policy Alternatives, New Delhi, Dr. Alka Acharya, Chairperson, Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Dr. Srikant Kondapalli, Associate Professor, Centre for East Asian Studies, School of International Studies, JNU and Mr. Jabin T Jacob, Research Fellow, IPCS.
The CRF team comprised Gen. The CRF is a non-governmental and non-profit academic organization founded in 1994 and devoted to the study of domestic and worldwide issues including international relational relations and economic development. Its research is closely associated with that of the Party School, CPC Central Committee. The CRF is headed by Mr. Zheng Bijian, former Vice Principal of the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party, and the first to use the concept of China's "peaceful rise."
The discussions
between the IPCS and the CRF covered the worldviews of the India and China,
their respective regional relations, energy security, trade and environment
issues, and the China-India strategic relationship.

Roundtable: Hu Jintao's Visit and Sino-Indian Relations

The IPCS held a roundtable discussion on 29 November 2006 with the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), Beijing on the Sino-Indian relationship in light of the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to South Asia. The IPCS delegation was headed by Ambassador Salman Haidar, former Indian Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to China and also included Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Panel Discussion: China and India: Worldviews and the Emerging Economic Relationship

An IPCS delegation met with a panel from Fudan University's Institute of International Studies on 30 November 2006 to discuss the worldviews of India and China and the developing economic relationship between the two regional powers.
