Indo-Pak talks: more cross-LoC bus services on agenda
NEW DELHI: India is expected to press for more bus services across the Line of Control (LoC) and propose some other confidence-building measures (CBMs) during the External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee upcoming visit to Islamabad, sources said on Sunday. Mukherjee will hold talks on May 21 with his counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the former first high-level contact with the new Pakistan government. During this meeting, India is expected to propose increasing the frequency of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot bus services from fortnightly to weekly, and to press for the launch of Kargil-Skardu and Jammu-Sialkot bus services. ...

Nirmala ashes to be immersed in Indus
NEW DELHI, May 4: Pakistani peace activists said here on Sunday they would carry the ashes of Gandhian icon Nirmala Deshpande to be immersed in the Indus river to underscore her work to bring the two countries together. Ms Deshpande, 79, died on Thursday.Trade union leaders and peace workers B.M. Kutty and Karamat Ali of the Pakistan-India Peoples Forum for Peace and Democracy told Dawn they would fly home with the ashes, possibly to Karachi first, on Monday. ...

Sarabjit sister comes to the aid of Pak prisoners
Chandigarh (PTI): Days after the Pakistan Government stayed the execution of Indian death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh indefinitely, his sister Dalbir Kaur today vowed to take up the release of 45 Pakistani prisoners languishing in Indian jails at the highest level. I have requested Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and the Central Government to give me permission to meet these 45 Pakistani prisoners languishing in different jails in the country for long, The list of these prisoners had been handed over to her by Pakistani human rights activists during her recent visit to that country along with Sarabjit wife and daughters to meet her borther, Dalbir told reporters here on Monday. ...
