ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Professor Sharif Hussain Qasemi is a former head of the Department of Persian at University of Delhi and the former dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi. He is also the recipient of several recognitions including the Certificate of Honor in Persian by the President of India. He has authored several publications shedding new light on Persian literature and the role of the Persian language in South and West Asian history, politics and civilisations. Professor Qasemi has translated several works from Persian to English and other Indian languages and vice-versa. His most well known translated works include A Descriptive Catalogue of Persian Translations of Indian Works, National Mission for Manuscripts.
